A: 现在ECFMG的规定临床医学本科学位(Bachelor of Medicine in Medicine)才
可以报考USMLE。
ECFMG/Note Regarding Ineligible Practitioners: Graduates not eligible for admission to
the exams or for ECFMG Certification include, but are not limited to: Graduates
licensed only in stomatology, ayurvedic or homeopathic medicine, or those awarded only
the diploma of Physician-Epidemiologist-Hygienist, Physician-Biochemist, Physician-
Cyberneticist, Physician-Biophysicist, Licensed Medical Practitioner, or Assistant
Medical Practitioner.

The only drawback is that you may need a letter from your dean to state

Q: 报名时七年制八年制的毕业年份如何填写？clerkships如何填写？
A: 填写本科学位证上的毕业年份，寄本科学位证，clerkships填实习的内外妇儿等各
科。说clerkship 就是毕业前在医院中的 rotation, intership 是 毕业以后的住院医
实习。
Q: 报名时学位证和毕业证应该去翻译哪一个?or both?
A: 学位证。
Q: 可以用国内的学位翻译件吗？
A: 如果国内的翻译件是"word to word"可以。否则要在美国找翻译社翻译。
Q: 我自己手里的成绩单有用么？
A: 对于报名考试没有用，但是可以用于申请住院医时寄给ERAS做copy。ECFMG会给学校寄一封信进行学位认证。信里包括一个表格和你学位证书复印件。 要求你的学校确认你是这个学校毕业的，完成了课程，获得了学位。此外还要求学校附上一份成绩单，并且在上面签字盖章。

A: 建议从电话本上查找本地的翻译公司，找title大的信誉可靠能够符合ECFMG的要求，比如xx State Foreign Language Institute之类。并上门去商谈翻译事宜，顺便察看他们的条件装备，再询问一下他们是否作过类似翻译项目，以确保能通过ECFMG的要求。

Q: 什么是ECFMG认证（crendential evaluation）和ECFMG standard certificate？
A: ECFMG credential evaluation是ECFMG对国外医学生进行学位资格认证的过程。
ECFMG standard certificate是国外医学生进入residency program的正式资格证书。ECFMG认证是获得ECFMG standard certificate的前提条件之一。ECFMG认证过程与报名考试无关，两者可分别进行。但此认证最好在申请match前完成，以便能在进入 residency program开始住院医生训练前拿到ECFMG certificate。通常来讲，ECFMG certificate对于IMG获得interview比较重要。

A: 此表格报名时，填完在线申请后网上自动生成，每人一份，上面有你自己的具体信息和ECFMG ID#，所以别人无法给你。186表格有两种，通常我们需要打印不要Dean签字的那份。
Q: 国内实习算internship还是clerkship
A: 美国住院医第一年称作intern。据此，国内的实习见习可以一起成为clerkship。

A: 简单填写内科就可以了。
Q: 我忘记了见习/实习期间的带教老师的姓名，以及各科轮转的具体时间怎么办
A: 老师的能记住最好，记不住则不要求很准确。 各科轮转时间请参考自己实习学时数填写。例如有的学校实习只有4科：内外各3个月，妇儿各2个月。只要是西医临床医学专业本科，报名没有什么难度。
Q:成绩单里必须列出实习的小时数么？
A:The key issue is not associated with ECFMG application for taking USMLE
exams, but for later you applying for state license even a training license for your residency and setting up your FCVS account for future practice purpose.these are totally different issues. But,sooner or later, you have to provide your transcript with 实习的小时数必须在成绩单里 for your license (not ECFMG certificate!).
Q: 复习考试需要哪些资料？
A: Kaplan，First Aid, Qbank, UW对大部分人必须，其他材料因人而异。

Q: How did you figure out the right answer of NBME form 1-6? Is it very important to know all answers? It is really time consuming to search those answer?
A: NBME没有标准答案，流传的答案是某些牛人的800分答案。it is a learning process to figure out the right answers.
Q:Which NBME form to take first...last? which is worth buying because they
are closest to the actual test?
A: For Step1, I took form1 followed by form 2, form1 is said a little easier.
Usually you don't just take 1 form, as you may want to start NBME forms a
little earlier to monitor your progress. More ppl are taking form 5/6 now, don't know how comparable they are to the real test.
Q: 需要TOEFL 成绩吗
A: NO.Now the CS takes over it.
Q: 是不是一定要按顺序考完step1，CK，和CS？
A: 前三个考试（step1，CK，CS）可以以任何顺序考完。step3要等拿到ECFMG证书之后
才可以报名。
Q: 复习考试需要多长时间？
A: 一般来说，step1 对老graduate，part time 4hr/day 一年，full time 8hr/day
半年。fresh graduate不用这么长，step2,3也不需这么长。
Q: Why some people got the same two digit score but different three digit
score?
A: The USMLE score is a 3-digit number, based off a theoretical maximum of 300.
For some legal reasons the passing score must be represented as a 2-digit
number (that is, 75 is the passing score and 99 is the highest score),
therefore a 2-digit number is also used such that a 75 is equal to a 185 for
the USMLE Step 1. Any scores from 238(?) and up will be a “99”.
In 2008 the number of questions per block for Step 1 was reduced from 50 to
48, resulted a slightly different relationship between the 3-digit and 2-
digit scores.
Q: Which is more important factor for match, 2 digits or 3 digits score?
A: This depends on how people interpreting the scores. The 3-digit score has a
finer granularity, but some programs may simply use the 2-digit number as
the cutoff.
Q: If taking exam with the American medical students in May-June, does it affect the socre?
A: Very small effect, if any. The scores will be calculated based on the
current and previous test takers pool.
Q: 考古发现大家都在看三本书Gojan的Rapid Review Pathology/BRS Pathology /Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology. 时间紧，准备选择一本啃了，三本有何区别呀，which one is better?
A: Goljan侧重于病理生理，是大家公认的学习病理最好的参考资料。BRS Pathology 为系统的理论，条理清楚，如果能看进去Goljan这本可以不看。Robbins Review of Pathology 是一个1500多道题的题库，有很多图，可以增强感性认识，可以在看完前两本任意一本后补充复习。
另外：- Dr. Goljan 這名字不念gol-dgen，正確念法是gol-'yang，重音在後面，Dr. Goljan 偏好這樣的純正polish發音。[感谢mvpzd (Moni)]
Q: step3从寄出申请材料到拿到schedule permit要多长时间? 如何选考试时间？
A: Usually the permit will arrive within 2-4 weeks after you send
application out. You can pick up any day within 105 days after your
application was approved.

Q：observership和externership的区别
A: observership是只看不能动手，不算作在美国的临床经验。机会相对容易获得。
externership有动手的机会，算作在美国的临场经验。机会非常难获得。
Q: 什么是PTAL？
A: Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter, or "California Letter". PTAL
is notoriously slow. Generally it takes at least 4 months. 请参看§精华区§
match§各州的特殊规定§。
Q: MSPE和DEAN'S LETTER 有什么区别?
A: 考试完成后，参加Match时，ERAS需要学校出具MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation，取代了以前的Dean's Letter)。NRMP的网页上有参考模板。如果没有，在ERAS可以选择学校不出具，ECFMG会生成一张空白信件，帮助外国学生完成申请手续。至于 这个MSPE有多重要，一般来讲对于外国学生来讲，尤其是老毕业生，并非十分有用，没有这封信的同学也照样Match进了MGH等名院。不过如果不难弄 到，还是可以考虑弄一份。
Q: match是不是一定要绿卡？
A: 绿卡不是必要条件，但很重要。没有绿卡也可以申请H1, 很多医院有资格资助H1； 至于OPT，有朋友依此申请match成功，我们正在收集信息。
但他们偏向招有绿卡的。也可向ECFMG申请J1， （J1申请需要国家提供证明，不如H1容易做到）
Q: PhD对于match作用大吗？
A: 对于family medicine, internal medicine这些科来说PhD作用不大，反而会因为毕
业太久有不良影响。对于pathology之类注重research的program PhD会有优势。
Q: 我毕业超过10年了，还可以考吗？
A: 可以，ECFMG对报考USMLE没有毕业年数的限制。但很多residency program有3年或
5年的限制。越久越不利。
Q: What is PGY1 or PGY2
A: PGY-1: post graduate year-1
Q: What is NRMP?
A: "National Resident Match Program". All the applicants and programs will
submit their ranking lists to NRMP in February. NRMP will run the magic
matching software and provide the match result.
Q: 住院医需做多长时间，薪水多少？
A: 取决于专业的不同，3-5年不等(内、家庭、精神/神经等3年，病理4年、外科，妇产
科5年)，专科的话再1-4年的fellow。期间年薪3-6万,取决于所在地。纽约地区最高，
南方最低。
